A warm welcome on the Isle of Portland
We're a friendly local church of everyday disciples. Come and worship, pray and learn with us, whether you've been in church all your life or you're just curious.
Two ways to join in
Our meetings are Spirit-led, informal, and anyone can contribute. We'd describe ourselves as biblical, evangelical and charismatic.
A place of going out
Christians from any church, or none, come together as one family to praise God and pray for the island. It's about building each other up and equipping us to be who God has called us to be.
The Beacon is a strong, reliable and bright light, shining the love of God into the community of Portland.

Our story
Portland Praise and Prayer is a non-denominational local church, part of the Body of Christ on Portland. We hold to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith and meet to share fellowship, teach and learn, pray and share the Lord's Supper, seeking God's guidance in all we do.
We started in autumn 2021 from a shared passion to see God's Kingdom extended on our island. We felt God asking us to put relationships first: with each other, with other churches and with Christians across Portland.
Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.John 13:34-35
Our vision
To work with and encourage all the Christian churches on the island so God's Kingdom grows. In practice, we're involved with the working group Christians Working Together on Portland.
Who leads us
A team of islanders with varied backgrounds and gifts, all with previous leadership experience.
Giving
We don't take regular offerings. If you feel called to give, speak to Dave Farmer or Neil Cruickshank.
Say hello
Have a question, or want to know what to expect before you come? The easiest way is to turn up on a Sunday and chat to anyone there. You can also ask Dave Farmer or Neil Cruickshank.
Wherever you settle, we pray that God will bless you and release you to be an active part of what he wants to do on our beautiful island.
